Horses & ponies are broken-In using a mix of natural horsemanship & traditional methods of mouthing, extensive long-reining & hacking out. I use a mix of either natural horsemanship and trditional methods because every horse is different and may find a certain way of learning works best for them. when your horse is broken-in he isnt just broken-in to be able to have someone on its back; he will go through getting used to all kinds of noises and scrary things & he will have his legs handled as well as ears & tail etc, be sacked out all this extra work will have him trusting people so they are willing for you to do anything with them on the ground & their back, We strongly believe that this plays a vital role in educating a young horse and that it helps produce a confident, well balanced horse, both mentally & physically.
All Breaking-in is done in a safe sawdust yard. Each day the training sessons are customised for each horse so they arent pressured by time restraints as i will let each session take as long as it has to for the horse to understand what is asked of him which leaves the end result as a confident happy horse that is a pleasure to ride.
We like our young horses to be confident hacking out both alone & in company, over farmland, around the roads & with different people on them. We also actively encourage the owners/riders participation in the young horses education at this stage so that they develop a partnership with the young horse under saddle before it returns home.
Keeping in mind that each horse is an individual and will learn at a different speed, the Breaking-In process generally takes around 6 weeks.
We have currently built a new breaking in yard and holding yards/paddocks, the breaking in yard is post and rail with all new sawdust to ensure your horses safety and comfort during his learning sessions.
I can have up to 3 horses at one time during winter some times more if urgent training is needed.
